As we head towards autumn equinox this week I noticed an equilibrium as the September full moon set upon a new dawn. In less than a week the sun moves into the southern hemisphere, marking for me, 6 months of yin energy where I live (in London). What can we learn about this equinox balance?
From a Feng Shui perspective this natural drop in energy and light means a respectful focus on creating light and energy from within, for optimum health and balance. Daytime walks – particularly around midday – are highly beneficial. So too are investing in a day-light appliance for waking up on darker mornings, and eating lots of yang/energy producing food to create a “fire in the belly”.
The natural cycle of life, as the harvest produces riches from the earth, then moves into winter to clear away the dead wood and to prepare for spring, is a fundamental reality of the life-death-life cycle. Yes there is a sadness as the summer heat cools down and the flowers grow less. Yet to embrace the next phase is important, and the equinox balance is the perfect time to do this.
Gather the harvest and generate light from within to thrive until the sun returns to us once again.
